Shop refurbishment

I've decided that it was time to give Eyeshoot a bit of an overhall. The sections have been the same for ages now with pretty much everything going into the 'Unmatted Prints' section which was far bigger than the others which were disproportionally small as you can see below:

After much consideration and cutting up of thumbnails of all images currently in the shop I've decided to order by colour.....

Which I think looks quite good - now I'll have to go through the tags to make sure they're all correct for each colour section. It's also easier now to see the distribution of colours and cards/sets/other and I can easily see what I need more of.

Wish You Were Here

We're back in dull old Manchester after a great weekend in Anglesey - brilliant sunny weather with a hint of chill, delicious food (massive sea bass on Saturday night and seriously yummy Welsh roast lamb on Sunday night all washed down with copius quantities of wine), hundreds of photos every single one taken with my rented Nikkor 105mm Micro lens. Oh, and the sale of one print (about time too).

Anyway, my Blackpool Pier shot is in a great Treasury by:

Getting in Close

I've rented the Nikkor Micro 105mm lens I've wanted for so long for the weekend. We're off to visit friends on Anglesey so I'll be able to give it a thorough work out on the beach, in the garden and in the studio.

I had a quick play around with it at home and am really impressed with the results just shooting some very unexceptional items around and about.

I can't wait to get it somewhere interesting!

Sunday Showings

Two Treasury showings for today - both rather lovely!

Feet, Feet, Feet

It's Cool to be Blue
by Planet Treasures

I was an alternative in this one a couple of days ago - I've either been swapped in or the original item has sold.

We're going to stay with friends in Anglesey next weekend and I've decided to see if I can rent the Nikon Macro lens I've been fantasizing about for the last year or so from Calumet. They seem to have a great range of kit available to hire for very reasonable prices. I really fancy shooting macro in the studio, on the beach and in the garden.....must phone the shop on Monday to reserve the lens.

And Cue Drumroll

.....I've finally sorted out the rounded corner problem thanks to a helpful person in the Etsy Forums, here's an example

I like Autumn

It's feeling distinctly autumny here in the mornings (when it's not raining!) and I've been inspired to have another go and experimenting with layers in CS3 which I started a while ago but ran out of interest. So I've dug out an old favourite and applied a couple of textured layers and it's now for sale. I'm happier with this one than the last ones I played around with.

And here's another

Thanks to you both for including my work!

I've finished tweaking the photos from the wedding in wet Newcastle and posted the DVDs yesterday. I do hope they like them.

A friend has asked me to do some head shots for an industry magazine article of him so that will be a nice bit of experience in portraiture. There's a very limited time slot for it and they need the finished file by Friday, but we'll manage. And he's paying.....

Someone on Etsy wants me to make 500 envelopes for her base on these ones. At first this did seem rather an impossible task but have since had the bright idea of having the templates cut out by a print finisher then all I'll have to do is fold and stick. I know that would mean that they're not 100% hand made, but it will take me forever to scalpel them all and there would be many mistakes and cut fingers. This way they'll at least be perfectly square and aligned. I've bought a fantastic book to make them from. All I need now is for her to approve my price then I can get going.

Pushing the Envelope

I've been making envelopes from old magazines....one set from a 1984 World of Interiors in which I've included little note cards made from other pages with some card-stock pasted in the middle.

The second lot (I think better too) from old food magazines in which I've included one inch round stickers.

I really need to sell something soon and not just spend all my time making loads of new stuff for nothing......I can't believe the way that my sales have just vanished. I've sold one print since my return from Japan. Apart from Etsy, I've sold two prints on Imagekind for about £5 each and one card on Redbubble. I do sometimes wonder if all the time I spend staring into this screen is really worth it.

One of Many

I've never seen so many Treasuries before - over 750! My Blue Bicycle print made it into one of them!

Real work

I'm off to Newcastle any minute now to shoot a wedding tomorrow. It's a real job, with money and everything! The bride is a friend from my LiveJournal years, we've never met before and she asked me totally out of the blue. Very flattering.

I'm a little nervous, but the wedding is small, I think just a dozen or so people, but it's the first one where I've actually been properly comissioned. Onwards and upwards.

Oh, I made my first (very very tiny) sale on Red Bubble today. A card of The Ministry of Silly Walks.

I made a few ACEOs from pictures I took in Barcelona earlier this year and didn't sell a single one, I've decided to relist them and have another go. It seems to be a bit of a niche market over on Etsy, but they certainly seem a very popular artform.

More little notebooks

I've made yet more little books and, as usual, I think they're really cute.

The first is using two of my vintage 35mm slides as the front and back covers for a teeny weeny little 5cm ring bound book full of nice cartridge paper. It's really cute.

The latest is a variation of this one but I've had it professionally spiral bound and I think it's great fun. I really hope this one sells as it's been really jolly putting it together and rifling through loads of stuff and chopping it up. I've also loved seeing one of my many, much loved Snoopy books being reused.

Pale and Interesting Mosaic - Treasury

One of my favourite mosaics is called 'Pale and Interesting' and that's the title of my latest curated Treasury featuring lots of gorgeous pictures by various members of The Photographers of Etsy Street Team:

I hope you all like it!

This blog is oficially unread....

The sad little gizmo on the left of the page tells me what I thought was true - that nobody actually reads this blog. I think it's a pretty little blog and that it needs some 'followers' as Blogger quaintly calls them.

So if you look, please click the link.

Many thanks!

Treasury Time!

My Blackpool Doorbells are in a stunning Treasury which I spotted this morning, it's full of great pictures from POE Team Members and it's called:
